Fancy
Fancy is a new general-purpose programming language inspired by Smalltalk, Ruby and Erlang that runs on the Rubinius VM. It has first-class integration support with Ruby and any Ruby libraries supported by Rubinius, including most C-extensions. Fancy is a dynamic, pure object-oriented, class-based programming language with built-in support for futures and actors. The syntax is easy to learn, consistent and is mostly inspired by Ruby and Smalltalk.

Computer languages from A-Z: Vala & Visual Basic
As we approach the tail end of the alphabet we notice that the number of languages which are available specifically for PCLinuxOS are rapidly decreasing, or even reaching the vanishing point. For that reason, this article will present two languages. One is a new language which is designed to only function on the Gnome desktop of Linux. The other is the language which made creating GUI applications in Windows an easy task: the venerable language Visual Basic. The version of this language selected has the redeeming feature of being available at no cost.

JRuby
JRuby is a Java implementation of the Ruby programming language, being developed by the JRuby team. It is free software released under a three-way CPL/GPL/LGPL license. JRuby is tightly integrated with Java to allow the embedding of the interpreter into any Java application with full two-way access between the Java and the Ruby code (similar to Jython for the Python language).

Genie language, The
Vala and Genie are new programming languages, really new. Vala came first, in mid-2006, with a C#-like syntax, followed by Genie in mid-2008 with a Python-Boo-like syntax. These languages use the same compiler and support all the same features, so take your pick!

Vala (Programming Language)
Vala is a programming language created with the goal of bringing modern language features to C, with no added runtime needs and with little overhead, by targeting the GObject object system. It is being developed by Jürg Billeter and Raffaele Sandrini. The syntax borrows heavily from C#. Rather than being compiled directly to assembler or to another intermediate language, Vala is source-to-source compiled to C which is then compiled with a platform's standard C compiler, such as gcc.
