XPL0 is a computer programming language that is essentially a cross between Pascal and C. It was created in 1976 by Peter J. R. Boyle who wanted a high-level language for his microcomputer and wanted something more sophisticated than BASIC, which was the dominant language for personal computers at the time.

Extended Object Tcl (for short: XOTcl, pronounced exotickle) is an object-oriented scripting language based on Tcl. It was originally designed for providing language support for design patterns and provides novel constructs such as filters or transitive mixin classes. The language is designed for empowering rather than constraining system developers. The basic object model is highly influenced by CLOS.

XL is a general purpose extensible programming language. The key word is extensible: XL can safely be extended through libraries and compiler plug-ins, in ways that are very difficult or limited with languages such as C++ or Java. This makes XL a good tool for concept programming.

Clipper is a computer programming language that is used to create software programs that originally operated primarily under DOS. Although it is a powerful general-purpose programming language, it was primarily used to create database/business programs.

xHarbour (extended Harbour) was started by Ron Pinkas late 2001 as a fork off of the Harbour Project in which he was one of the leading developers. xHarbour was established to provide a more aggressive alternative to the conservative style of development in the Harbour Project.

The XC concurrent programming language extends the programming capabilities of the C language. Along with the sequential capabilities of C, XC provides explicit control of concurrency, communication, timing and input-output. It supports deterministic concurrent programming; compile-time checks eliminate race-conditions.

For many years, the increase in the number of transistors on a chip, as predicted by Moore’s Law, has resulted in higher clock speeds, and thus, greater performance; without any changes to software. This has enabled the creation of advanced, performance-hungry applications, as well as an increase in software developer productivity through high-level programming languages that are enabled by these performance increases.

x++ is an object-oriented programming language that makes use of the XML 1.0 syntax. Some of the benefits of using the XML syntax to write the object-oriented code include: It can be parsed (not necessarily processed) by any XML parser. Ability and ease to dynamically generate x++ programs by using various XML tools and other XML family of standards, such as XSLT. Infact, x++ programs can be written to generate other x++ programs. x++ brings object-oriented programmability natively to XML. This means that when XML is sent across the wire, it can now have programmable objects sent instead of the plain data.

Superx++ is an object-oriented language that is entirely based on XML's syntactical structure. Superx++ conforms with the XML version 1.0 specification as published on the W3C web site. Programming in XML itself has great potential and Superx++ pushes the envelope!
