A microcomputer is a computer with a microprocessor as its central processing unit. They are physically small compared to mainframe and minicomputers. Many microcomputers (when equipped with a keyboard and screen for input and output) are also personal computers (in the generic sense).

1977 Pullman, Washington. I was working as a Sales Executive for the Xerox Corporation. One of the Xerox Service Technicians and I were walking down one of the main streets after work - headed for a local watering hole - when we passed a Radio Shack store that had one of the new TRS-80 Microcomputers on display in the window.

Her understanding of mathematics was laced with imagination, and described in metaphors.

1978 — Infometrix was founded by University of Washington Professor Bruce Kowalski and Dr. Gerald Erickson to provide consulting service in the new field of chemometrics. The company's primary software was ARTHUR, a system designed for DEC VAX minicomputers and mainframes.

The concept of database was introduced by IBM in 1960s. Since then, a lot of research has been done in this field.
