Wearable Computers
Computer technology has played an important role in businesses throughout the years. There has been active development of increasingly portable computer hardware. The development originated with desktop and laptop units and is becoming increasingly apparent in palmtop, handheld and now wearable computers.

History of USB Flash Drive
First commercial product
Trek Technology and IBM began selling the first USB flash drives commercially in 2000. The Singaporean Trek Technology sold a model under the brand name "ThumbDrive", and IBM marketed the first such drives in North America with its product named the "DiskOnKey" which was developed and manufactured by the Israeli company M-Systems.

Arithmetic Logic Unit
In computing, an arithmetic logic unit (ALU) is a digital circuit that performs arithmetic and logical operations. The ALU is a fundamental building block of the central processing unit of a computer, and even the simplest microprocessors contain one for purposes such as maintaining timers. The processors found inside modern CPUs and graphics processing units (GPUs) accommodate very powerful and very complex ALUs; a single component may contain a number of ALUs.

Mouseless - An Invisible Mouse
'Mouseless' is an invisible computer mouse that provides the familiarity of interaction of a physical mouse without actually needing a real hardware mouse. Despite the advances in computing hardware technologies, the two-button computer mouse has remained the predominant means to interact with a computer.

Evolution of Packet Switching, The
Abstract-Over the past decade data communications has been revolutionized by a radically new technology called packet switching. In 1968 virtually all interactive data communication networks were circuit switched, the same as the telephone network. Circuit switching networks preallocate transmission bandwidth for an entire call or session. However, since interactive data traffic occurs In short bursts 90 percent or more of this bandwidth Is wasted. Thus, as digital electronics became inexpensive enough, it became dramatically more cost-effective to completely redesign communications networks, introducing the concept of packet switching where the transmission banwidth is dynamically allocated, permitting many users to share the same transmission line previously required for one user. Packet witching has been so successful, not only in improving the economics of data communications but in enhanang reliability and functional flexibility as well, that in 1978 virtually all mew data networks being built throughout the world are based on packet switching. An open question at this time is how long will it take for voice communications to be revolutionized as well by packet switching technology. In order to better understand both the past and future evolution of this fast moving technology, this paper examines in detail the history and trends of packet switching.

Brief History of the TI-99, A
1958 - Integrated circuit invented by Jack Kilby
During the summer of 1958, TI shut down for the annual two-week, company-wide mass vacation. As a new employee, Jack Kilby had not yet accrued vacation time, so he stayed on the job and began looking for a viable alternative to the micro-module program, a miniaturization method for circuits. While studying the problem, he decided the only product a semiconductor house could make cost-effectively was a semiconductor. Perhaps other circuit components should be made from the same material as the semiconductors.

Computer Stuff
Okay, I don't know a whole lot about computers, or programming,
but what I do know will be posted here as time permits. It will
mostly be notes, tips, and links that I think are useful - if for
nothing other than to give me a place to look when I forget stuff!
