Vizsafe was recently launched as a crowdsourcing and communications platform that connects citizens and governments to support public safety and community well-being. Vizsafe serves as both a social media platform for engaged citizens who care about their communities and a communications tool for public safety minded organizations to securely share geolocated photos/videos and live feeds from security cameras in real-time. Our unique approach establishes community partnerships between citizens, businesses and government, enabling first responders to access user generated content from the public, as well as their colleagues to enhance situational awareness, reduce risk and improve response. Vizsafe’s easy to use app enables members to monitor issues and events they care about and to submit their own posts to share with the community. Moreover, the technology follows the user geographically and provides relevant safety alerts anywhere in the World. Vizsafe’s mission is to empower people to be good neighbors, to share information and to connect with their communities. Connected communities are better informed, safer and more prosperous. Vizsafe has experienced a surge in new users since launch with high repeat posts covering a variety of concerns from missing children, water waste associated with the West Coast drought, traffic reports from municipalities, as well as fire and police reporting. The Vizsafe platform is available now, fully vetted and ready to scale. After completing successful trials over the past 6 months with several businesses, schools, police departments and public safety agencies, we released the platform to the public in late April for crowdsourcing safety at the Boston Marathon. Currently, we are working with several other marquee organizations that want to harness the public's help in improving community and event safety.
