ModernMethod develops topical community-oriented websites lead by staffed editors. To date, they have built sites about video games, anime, and collectible toys that are 'Elephant Powered,' which refers to their proprietary publishing system 'ElephantBlog'. The software is built on PHP/MySQL from the ground-up and claims to be similar to AOL/WebLogs Inc. BlogSmith product ModernMethod was founded in 1999 as a web development company by Yanier Gonzalez and Thomas Lackner, who met in a high school programming class. After a short-term partnership with advertising agency Worldmedia, the company was reinvented as a self-publishing start-up in March 2006.
