Origami is a Tokyo-based company offering a mobile payment solution that bridges online and offline commerce. Origami launched in 2013 with funding from KDDI (one of Japan’s leading telecom carriers) and DAC (part of the Hakuhodo Group, Japan’s oldest advertising group) and a media partnership with Conde Nast Japan (Vogue, GQ, Wired) and Isetan (one of Japan’s leading department stores) Since then, Origami has been implemented at thousands of retailers including large department stores, apparel brands, food chain stores, beauty salons and more… In 2015, Origami announced its Series B financing round which was led by the SoftBank Group (telecom carrier) and Credit Saison Co. Ltd.(credit card company), both of which are leading institutions in their respective industries in Japan. After launching the 'Origami Pay' service officially in May 2016, Origami has seen exponential growth, securing partnerships with Alipay, China's largest mobile payment platform, as well as international brands such as Kentucky Fried Chicken, local transportation company Japan Taxi and Lawson, one of the leading convenience stores with over 13000 outlets nationwide.
