Sveriges Radio is a publicly-funded national radio broadcasting company based in Sweden. It is funded through a licensing fee determined by the Swedish Riksdag. Sveriges Radio operates four radio channels: P1, P2, P3, and P4. P1 is the principal radio channel in Sweden for news, community programs, culture, radio drama, debates, international issues, philosophy, and more. P2 broadcasts music and also carries educational programming as well as programs in minority languages. The output of the P3 is oriented towards young people from junior high school age to 35 and the P4 is argeted at an across-the-board audience, but with the emphasis on older listeners. The company was founded on March 21, 1924 as AB Radiotjänst (Radio Service), and performed its first public broadcast in January 1925.
