The Marco Polo Project is creating a new paradigm for 'social translation' = social media + collaboration + translation + learning + engaging content. The Marco Polo Project is a web-based platform where people come together online to translate Chinese writing into other languages, collectively. It combines the functions of an online magazine, a social networking platform, and a language learning tool, running on the principle of cross-cultural collaboration. It also serves to revitalise the outmoded Western view of China by making new, fresh Chinese media accessible to the world. The Marco Polo Project is a not-for-profit organisation.
