Hardware Description

This was a general-purpose mid-size computer for business use, announced by Mitsubishi Electric in 1963 as part of a technical tie-up with TRW in U.S. The MELCOM 1530 used a revolutionary system called "stored logic" -- a forerunner of microprogrammed control -- for logical operation circuits. In the stored logic system, the logical functions of the computer are not fixed. Instead, the logic system is designed to enable the execution of any instruction by combining basic elements on request. This feature made the system configuration more adaptable, and greatly contributed to the improvement of reliability through reducing the number of circuit elements and making logic circuits simpler and more uniform.
