Hardware Description

This was an ultra-large computer from Fujitsu. It was announced in January 1978 as the top-end computer in the FACOM M Series. It had a processing capacity 1.5 to 1.8 times that of the FACOM M-190, and allowed multi-processor configurations of up to a maximum of 4 CPUs (in the 4 CPU configuration, processing capacity performance was about 5 times that of the FACOM M-190 Single System). At the time, it was the world's largest and fastest general-purpose computer. Reliability and efficiency were improved by making the modules comprising the system independent, and by using duplicate shared modules.
