Company Description

Changing the future of school plays.

TreePress started in response to challenges Adrienne experienced in her classroom: an acute lack of playscripts available for schools. These issues were only ripples of a bigger problem: a fractured, broken publishing model. Theatres, playwrights and teachers have long written inspiring material, yet are unable to publish and distribute it because it doesn’t meet the commercial profile of a professional stage. Administration costs prevent publishers from capitalising on the 'long tail' of publishing - high volume, low value transactions that schools require. This fractured ecosystem has compromised the quality of performing arts: lowering education outcomes, the creative economy and our cultural identity.
