ToniK is a production house that creates, develops, and produces movies and television series for the entire family. In 2013, in partnership with Walden Media, Hallmark, Walmart, and Proctor & Gamble, ToniK produced Christopher Paul Curtis’ The Watsons Go to Birmingham – 1963. The Watsons Go to Birmingham – 1963 is an award-winning novel, which was adapted for the screen by Tonya Lewis Lee for the 50th anniversary of the pivotal events of the Civil Rights Movement. In 2014, ToniK produced Lois Lowry’s Newbery Award winning novel, The Giver. Produced with Academy Award winning actor Jeff Bridges, Academy Award winning actress Meryl Streep, Alexander Skarsgard, Katie Holmes, and Taylor Swift, the film was financed and distributed by The Weinstein Company and Walden Media. At present, ToniK is in development on several book adaptations, including The Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter, which revolves around an international spy school for girls; Monster by Walter Dean Myers, which follows 16 year old Steve, an aspiring filmmaker, as he suddenly finds himself on trial for his life; and Gotham Diaries, the best-selling novel from Tonya Lewis Lee and Crystal McCrary Anthony.
