Company Description

Providence Ventures targets early-to mid-stage investment opportunities, preferring to be one of the first institutional investors.

Providence Health & Services is a not-for-profit Catholic health care ministry committed to providing for the needs of the communities it serves – especially for those who are poor and vulnerable. Providence's services include 34 hospitals, 475 physician clinics, senior services, supportive housing and many other health and educational services. The health system and its affiliates employs more than 76,000 people across five states – Alaska, California, Montana, Oregon and Washington – with its system office located in Renton, Washington. In 2014, Providence provided more than $848 million in community benefit. Providence Health & Services continues a tradition of caring that the Sisters of Providence began nearly 160 years ago. Providence Ventures targets early-to mid-stage investment opportunities, preferring to be one of the first institutional investors in a company. Over the life of an investment, they seek to deploy $8 to $15 million. Their best opportunities to add value are investments that align the interests of their portfolio companies and the innovation priorities of Providence Health & Services, through broad solution deployment and strategic insight. The innovation opportunities PHS targets as a large health system tend to reflect the priorities of the US health system overall. They welcome the opportunity to partner with established venture funds as co-investors, however, syndication is not a prerequisite for their participation.
