Running on Windows, Linux, and other UNIX operating systems, Pidgin enables users to chat with their friends on MSN, talk to them on Google Talk, and also sit in a Yahoo chat room all at the same time. The application’s features include file transfers, away messages, buddy icons, custom smilies, and typing notifications. Pidgin is compatible with chat networks such as AIM, ICQ, Google Talk, Jabber/XMPP, MSN, Messenger, Yahoo!, Bonjour, Gadu-Gadu, IRC, Novell GroupWise Messenger, Lotus Sametime, SILC, SIMPLE, MXit, Zephyr, and more. Pidgin was first launched in 1998.
