Company Description
SaaS platform which enables measurement based care in the treatment of behavioral health disorders.
The University of Washington (UW) boasts one of the top clinical psychology doctoral training programs in the U.S. As the director of the UW’s training clinic, Dr. Fagan aspired to train students in the routine use of evidence-based assessment but found herself frustrated at every turn. The field still used paper and pencil measures, which necessitated hand scoring -- a labor-intensive endeavor. Although some measures did allow for computer scoring, they were often proprietary, making it difficult for clinicians to simultaneously view the results of different measures (e.g., a depression measure and an anxiety measure) when the measures were published by different companies. One day, Jon Hauser (IT Architect and Systems Manager of the UW Psychology Department) witnessed Dr. Fagan pulling out her hair in frustration and volunteered to help build a technological solution to the problem. After 7 years of development at the UW, OwlOutcomes emerged as the solution. Several other thought-leading institutions (e.g., Seattle Children’s Hospital, UCLA and the University of North Carolina at Greensboro) partnered with the UW to beta-test the OwlOutcomes system. Those collaborations yielded the Owl that you see today.
