Oficina de Textos was founded in 1996 by Shoshana Signer, a civil engineer and a master in Geotechnics at the Polytechnic School of the University of São Paulo (USP). For 32 years, Shoshana has worked in major hydroelectric projects and in environmental development and planning projects, which gives her the knowledge to propose necessary books to the community and to invite authors to share their important academic experience. To this activity she dedicates herself fully today. The Texts Workshop publishes university and professional books and aims to promote, consolidate and disseminate Brazilian Science and Technology. At the beginning, the editorial line covered topics of Civil Engineering , such as Geotechnics, Concrete Technology and Dams. For affinities, this line has been expanded to Geology , Geography , Agronomy and Environment , to be issues with transdisciplinary approach, according to modern trends fueled by environmental concerns.
