Monax builds and maintains the market-leading, free, and open-source Universal Blockchain Platform known as Eris. Eris allows anyone to build their own secure, low-cost, run-anywhere applications using blockchain and smart contract technology. Eris’ mission is to empower developers to automate data driven processes and relationships using a wide variety of distributed systems. Founded as Eris Industries in 2014 by two lawyers, one quantum mathematician and a fat marmot, Monax has offices in London, New York, and Berlin. Eris Industries re-branded to Monax in October, 2016. The platform, currently named Eris, will be renamed Monax as well in early 2017.
