MetroLyrics is a song lyrics dedicated website, providing users with the largest database of licensed, complete and accurate song lyrics through a partnership with Gracenote. The company's lyrics licensing agreement ensures artists, songwriters and music publishers are properly compensated for the use of their copyrighted lyrics. The site was founded in 2002 by then 16-year-old Milun Tesovic, and today is the top lyrics website and the 3rd largest music website in the world with more than 48 million unique monthly visitors. The MetroLyrics database contains over 1 million songs performed by over 16,000 artists. In April 2009 MetroLyrics became the exclusive lyrics partner for all AOL Music properties, and provides approximately 30% of all AOL Music traffic. In addition to being a top 10 music destination worldwide, MetroLyrics provides lyrics applications that can be used in Web sites and blogs, across social media networks, and on mobile devices. MetroLyrics is the flagship product of MetroLeap Media Inc., which has been recognized as a Red Herring Canada Top 50 company, and was awarded the Burnaby Business Excellence Award in 2008. MetroLeap Media's founder, Milun Tesovic, received the Simon Fraser University Entrepreneur of the Year Award in 2008 and the 2009 National Student Entrepreneur Award. In September 2011 MetroLeap Media and all its assets, including MetroLyrics, were acquired by CBS. MetroLyrics is headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia.
