Kavango Block Brick (KBB) researches alternative methodologies of construction in order to reduce the cost of construction, particularly for low income groups on internationally recognized standards. Currently, it is engaging with the Namibian Government to assist with the establishing of a Namibian Home Warranty and consumer protection body in order to afford protection for the housing consumer against structural defects and poor workmanship in the Namibian construction industry. With wide social acceptance including acceptance from professional quantity surveyors and civil engineers, Kavango Block Brick (KBB) is benchmarked as a sustainable solution to reduce the housing backlog of Southern Africa and beyond. Its first pilot project took place at the end of 2007 with the construction of the prototype double storey and single storey bachelor units at the offices of the Habitat Research and Development Centre in Katutura Windhoek Namibia. Kavango Block Brick (KBB) was established in 2006 and is based in Windhoek, Namibia.
