Class Composer is a software service to help elementary schools create positive learning environments. The decision making process of where to place elementary students into classes for the next academic year is currently done using paper. Information like gender, academic level, behavior ratings, identified labels like ELL (English Language Learner), and placement requests are handwritten on a paper card for each student and then those cards are manually sorted in an attempt to create equitable classes in a grade level. This cumbersome process results in the creation of inequitable classes due to the large amount of data to consider. Our software program makes the process of class list creation time efficient while ensuring a more informed placement of students.
