Barbican is a world-class arts and learning organization supporting art forms, including dance, film, music, theatre, and visual arts. It serves its wide and diverse audiences, engaging with arts lovers through its unique and inspiring artistic events at the center and using its creative learning program and free events to introduce new audiences to arts experiences. Over 1.77 million people joins Barbican’s doors every year and a further 300,000 at offsite events across London, alongside hundreds of artists and performers from across the globe featuring in its artistic program and more than 300 staff working onsite. In 2012, it helped celebrate the Olympic year with many of its projects forming part of the Cultural Olympiad and London 2012 Festival. Barbican’s architecturally renowned center opened in 1982 and comprises the Barbican Hall, the Barbican Theatre, the Pit, Cinema One, the newly opened Cinemas Two and Three in Beech Street, Barbican Art Gallery, a second gallery The Curve, foyers and public spaces, a library, Lakeside Terrace, a glasshouse conservatory, conference facilities, and three restaurants. It is based in London.
